This week has been the hardest so far in continuing with a drawing a day, I suspect that like an elite athlete (which I am not – ha ha!) I have ‘hit the wall’. I have had to work through the pain of forcing myself to sit down and just do it. I have been my own worst enemy by leaving it until the end of the day when I am certainly not at my best. There have also been distractions, on Friday I went to the Society of Botanic Artists annual exhibition, which was both inspiring and dull, some stuff is just same old, same old, but some was brilliant. I particularly liked the paintings made with cut paper by Penny Brown (sadly I cannot find a web link). We also had a family weekend with children and grandchild visiting so not much time for art. Life drawing was fun this week with an exercise of drawing without looking at the paper, the results were a hoot but it was a definite practise in looking.
The bluebell is my favorite. 🙂 I’m glad you’re doing it every day, and pressing through.
Thank you, but it has been really hard….it is so much easier not to do anything!
I know, believe me.
Life is like that. I have so many things I want to do and have to do but other more pressing things get in the way. By the time I’ve dealt with those I’ve no energy or enthusiasm for anything else. I find I’ve fallen asleep or become distracted by something! The bluebell is lovely!
So true! And the bluebells are lovely at the moment, the rain has made everything really bright and beautiful.
We are going to have to go on a bluebell hunt this weekend. The ones in our garden are 2″ high bud stalks!
Well done for pushing through, not easy at all. I liked your sketches of the visitors, a great reminder of the day. Karen
I do this too Sue.
I get the idea generally on Monday but often leave it until Sunday to draw. This week I was making a journal and cutting paper etc. Had to go shopping for supplies and before I knew it I was doing my weekly sketch on the following Tuesday. Once you sit down it’s not bad but the procrastination, yikes!
Procrastination arghththth! 🙂
