In our old place when we walked we became accustomed to Buzzards shrieking overhead and looked forward to seeing ‘our’ Buzzard who sometimes came very close. Now we have moved into town we have a new bird friend to enjoy.
Meet Mabel the resident Tawny Owl who lives in this tree, she can be spotted most mornings looking down on us all as we go about our business. The grass where everyone stops to look has worn away and she is a local celebrity. I believe she has reared chicks for the past two years.
This weeks offerings:
Wow, your coloured pencils drawings are fabulous, it has been inspiring to watch your skill in this medium grow and grow. The owl is amazing, such a celebrity and a magnificent creature. Karen
Hi Karen, thanks for your kind comments, and yes the owl is magnificent, I feel really honoured to be able to see her regularly (not this morning though!). Sue
I hadn’t heard about Mabel! I must go to the park and have a look for her. Your drawings are beautiful this week!
Go into the park from the Westerfield Road entrance, go left on the path and look for the bald patch on the grass on the right in about a 100 yards. She sits right at the top – good luck. Sue
Thanks Sue!
I love your drawings!! Have you tried drawing Mabel? She is captivating!! I’d love a closer shot. Not too demanding and rude, am I ?! Love her, love your artwork!! 💛
She is truly beautiful, and that was on max zoom on my little camera, I could crop in tighter I guess and make her bigger. I find it hard enough drawing plants without adding animals to the mix – I’ve tried a cat once or twice with very limited success. Thanks for your kind comments on my work.
It’s always a pleasure. Thank you! How tall would you say she is, just sitting there in the tree. More than a foot?
